This trip was far more than a history lesson. It was a powerful, immersive experience that brought home the scale of the conflict, the sacrifice of those who served, and the importance of remembrance. Students and staff returned tired but inspired, with a deeper appreciation for the past. The History Department would like to thank all the staff, students, parents, and tour guides who made this special trip such a success, as well as our amazing driver David.

I would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who organised this trip. In particular, to those who left their own families to look after our own and to give them the most wonderful opportunity and life experience. Luke could not speak more highly of the trip, the teachers, the guides and the level of organisation upon his return on Friday. He was buzzing and couldn't wait to share his experiences and thoughts with us. He also spent Saturday with my dad telling him all about the trip and then researching his great grandfather's role in the Polish army, with a sense of enthusiasm and renewed understanding.

I have been meaning to write to say how much Max enjoyed the trip. He has come back full of knowledge, which he is readily sharing. Asking me to guess facts and figures. He also said it was very moving. It’s really made me want to go myself. He loved the residential aspect and has benefited from forming closer relationships with other pupils.

Thank you so much for organising such a meaningful and memorable Battlefields Trip. Chi had a fantastic time and has come back full of stories, it’s clear how much he appreciated the whole experience. We’re really grateful to you, the team, and the amazing guides for crafting such a rich and impactful trip. It’s obvious how much planning and care went into every detail. Please extend our thanks to everyone involved. Chi has come away not only with great memories but also with a real appreciation of the bravery and sacrifices from WW1 history.

Thank you so much for taking the kids away on the trip. Vesper had an absolute ball. She’s just told me all about it, she has definitely connected with the history of the trip.

The best part was watching the students be engaged with what both of the tour guides had to say. As a result of this, students were asking questions to deepen their understanding, all responses were delivered in an age appropriate manner. Students are using the knowledge that they learnt for the tour and within their exam answers. Through going on a walking tour the guides brought to life the conditions and the realities of living in Whitechapel during the 1800s.

Being able to run my first tour at my new school. I have run tours previously, but alongside a job role with incredible responsibility, I had found it hard to get this underway - but now I've started, I've got the bug. There really is nothing better than giving students opportunities, fostered by experts delivering great knowledge of the events of the context.

Thank you for making the trip so much easier for me and for dealing with so many of the logistics. I always gain so much from these trips and always feel that I take away something different each time that I can use in the classroom. I just wanted to offer my heartfelt thanks for a wonderful and thought-provoking trip to Poland this weekend. Your organisation and support throughout made the experience a smooth process from start to finish and your expertise on Poland and Jewish/Nazi 'relations' offered a fascinating insight into such a harrowing period of history. I have learnt so much that I can use in my teaching and look forward to incorporating this into my lessons.
