Earth Summit is a 2-day event that will provide students with a chance to take part in a wide-ranging examination of the factors causing climate change, the effects it is having on biodiversity, promoting sustainably at home, at school and in the community.
The workshops will be valuable experiences students can take with them to champion sustainability in their careers. Planet-first changes can be implemented in all types of work, whether it's improving the sustainability of supply chains, nurturing sustainable practices in developing countries, or making climate-resilient social changes.

Earth Summit is designed to educate students aged between 14-18 about the causes and impacts of climate change on our planet, such as global warming and pollution, with a hands-on approach.
The climate change seminar and workshops will be held at Keele University, a leader in climate change research. This location will help inspire students to think critically about the challenges facing climate change and use scientific and geographic solutions to create sustainable development goals.
After a full day of workshops and a night of rest, students can enjoy a fun day at Alton Towers theme park - what better way to unwind?
The event will open with a series of engaging presentations from experts in the climate change industry. Each case study and presentation will give your students unique insights into what inspired them to become pioneers and campaigners in the area, they will no doubt pass on their passion for this important cause.
Tom is a Keele Alumnus who was formerly Activities and Community Sabbatical Officer for Keele SU where he focused on multiple different it natives including sustainability, diversity and inclusion. He was also a Recycling Ambassador National Union of Students. In his current post he leads on initiatives such as biodiversity net gain, becoming carbon net zero, sustainable behavioral change and the visibility of sustainability.
Yara left college & didn't really have a plan so decided to go traveling, which led to the rain forest, spending time with tribal cultures. Drawing on her experiences she will encourage students to step out of their comfort zone to discover new skills, discuss adventure travel, gap year experiences and offer guidance to students possibly considering a gap year, volunteering abroad or traveling.
Angie has a BSc in Geography, and an MSc in Marine Resource Management. Prior to joining the team at Keele, she spent 10 years working in local government. Her first job was as a Countryside Ranger looking after numerous sites and managing volunteer parties. From here she moved into the field of Local Agenda 21 and became a Senior Sustainability Officer working on a wide portfolio of projects from policy creation and planning through to community projects focussed on climate change. She delivered teaching to a wide range of audiences and ran the national citizen science Polli-Nation research project, which engaged over 200 schools across the UK in identifying species and improving their grounds for specific pollinator groups
In the afternoon there will be time for you to take part in 2 hands on workshops with experts who are currently making a huge difference working in the climate change industry. This hands-on experience can enlighten your students in career paths in sustainability.
