The world-famous Wimbledon tennis tournament is one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the year.

Welcoming the likes of Novak Djokovic, Emma Raducanu, Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz onto the court, the tournament promises an unforgettable school trip experience for tennis fans of any age.

If you’re hoping to book a school trip to Wimbledon, you’ll need to act fast — as tickets are limited and in high demand. But fear not, in this guide we’ll walk through everything you need to know ahead of a school trip to Wimbledon, including the benefits of booking with Sport Experiences.

Wimbledon two-day tours

Each year, Next Generation Travel offers a limited number of tickets for school groups to attend the Wimbledon tournament.

Our two- and three-day tours present a unique opportunity for schools and sixth form colleges to attend the world’s premier Grand Slam tennis championships. You and your students can be there, soaking up the atmosphere and watching the action from a range of locations, with tickets available to purchase for specific courts.

Our Wimbledon school trips take place throughout The Championships, meaning you and your students can watch play on Centre Court via the huge TV screen amongst the excitement of the crowds on ‘Henman Hill’ or ‘Murray Mound’, as it’s increasingly known.

What's included

To give you an idea of what a Wimbledon school trip includes, here’s an example of a typical two-day tour booking:

  • Two days’ coach travel, including pick-up and drop-off at your school or college
  • One night’s accommodation at a good standard hotel
  • Continental breakfast
  • No.1/No.2/No.3 Court ticket for The Championships
  • Time in London, including sightseeing
  • Services of a Sport Experiences Tour Manager
  • One free teacher place for every ten students
  • Government taxes and service charges
  • Insurance

Exact details of what’s included will be available when booking each year.

Itinerary

Your school trip to Wimbledon is all about immersing the students in the excitement of the tournament as early as possible.

Therefore, you will collected from your school or college early in the morning and then be taken directly to Wimbledon. This should get you to Wimbledon by mid-morning, allowing plenty of time for students to settle, ready to see play commence.

Play normally commences in the early afternoon, at around 1pm or 2pm on No.1 Court, and generally a little earlier on No.2 and No.3 Courts and the outside courts. The Championships’ scheduling and the weather leading up to the day will determine exactly which matches are played on each court, however, whatever matches you see, you will be treated to a spectacular display of world-class tennis!

At the end of play, which can be any time between 6:30pm and 8:30pm depending on the number and duration of the matches, we will transfer you to your overnight accommodation. We recommend having an early dinner at Wimbledon before departing for your hotel.

Group size

Our brochure prices are based on a minimum of 40 paying passengers travelling on an executive coach.

For groups with fewer than 40 paying passengers, we will provide a custom quotation for your group, including rail options if preferred and more cost-effective.

Booking arrangements

Early booking is recommended, as we offer a limited number of tickets and they tend to sell out fast.

We’ve provided a summary of the key points below, but you can find further information on the Wimbledon website.

By coach

When booking with Next Generation Travel, we provide you with an executive coach that takes you directly to the tournament. We also handle all of the details, like adhering to the strict parking and dropoff rules.

Cross-country train services stopping at Wimbledon Station are available with South Western Railway. Check the South Western Railway network map for more details.

Alternatively, a wide variety of cross-country services run to London’s main terminals, such as Euston, King’s Cross St. Pancras, and Liverpool Street. You can then take public transport, such as the tube or a bus, for the final leg of the journey to Wimbledon Station.
