Educational Visits In Iceland

Sites which can be included in your visits

  • Hellisheidi Power Plant
This is the largest geothermal plant in the world, with the purpose of meeting increasing demand for electricity and hot water for space heating in the industrial and domestic sectors. Groups can take a tour and visit the Energy exhibition with its multimedia displays.
  • Northern Lights Tour
The northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Icelandic sky. The lights are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the north pole creating this wonderful light effect. Your driver and guide will take you out to find the best possible location that evening to view this once in a life time event. This tour only runs from September to March.
  • Perlan Centre
The building is composed of an immense glass dome that sits on six hot-water tanks, each carrying four million litres of geothermal hot water. All of this is supported by a colossal steel frame, which serves important functions in addition to holding everything together.  The centre is bursting with a vast range of educational experiences; from a cinematic underwater journey around Iceland, the chance to witness a real ice cave, a cutting-edge planetarium,.
  • Skogar Folk Museum
If you want to get to know the Icelandic society and how the Icelandic people used to live and work, you should definitely make a stop at the museum at Skógar. The museum focuses on the four areas of Fisheries, Agriculture, Handcrafts and also Transport.

Recommended Cultural Visits

Other Cultural Visits

  • Flyover Iceland
You will hang suspended, feet dangling, before a 20-metre spherical screen while a film whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across Iceland; boasting special effects including wind, mist and scents, combined with motion to create an unforgettable experience. Before the flight-ride experience, the pre-ride shows also explore the roles of nature, time and humankind on Iceland; from volcanoes and glaciers to Vikings and trolls - it's a moving and powerful experience for your students to witness.
  • Geysir Centre Multimedia Show
After witnessing the Geysirs, groups can visit this modern multimedia museum displaying the inexplicable natural wonders of Iceland, and even feel it with the earthquake simulator. The museum gives you a sneak peek into life on the island in earlier times, through carefully selected and presented exhibits, as well as four short videos about topics such as wool production, or milk and cheese processing.
