Seminar: Selling The Dream

The Disneyland® Paris Business Studies trip immerses students in the practical applications of business principles at this world-famous theme park resort in a number of different and engaging ways:

  • Attending a seminar hosted by facilitators with considerable experience of working with Disneyland® Paris and featuring back-stage video interviews and footage filmed exclusively for Study Experiences.
  • Taking part in our interactive Disneyland® educational workshops, students are encouraged to use their knowledge of business principles and practices.
  • Completing subject-specific assignments during their time in the Disney® Parks and at the Resort

Behind the Magic

  • The Walt Disney Company as a global business
  • Company aims, values and mission statement
  • Disneyland® Paris – location, company and destination synergy
  • Guest profiling and customer satisfaction

Marketing the Magic

  • Marketing Disneyland® Paris
  • The Four Ps
  • Primary and secondary research
  • Evaluating marketing, SMART

Theme Park Finance

  • Disneyland® Paris business operations and objectives
  • PEST, financial planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Fixed and variable costs, gross profit and break-even point
  • Economies of scale and pricing structures

The workshop allows students to put what they have experienced in the Seminar and during their time in the Resort into practice. Divided into teams of 8-10 and guided by our experienced facilitators, their task is to ‘sell’ a product to the audience.

The perfect pitch & the four Ps

A student from each team will select a box from those on the table, without looking inside. Each contains an item currently on sale
at Disneyland® Paris.

We are then looking for the ‘perfect pitch’. They will need to include a description of the product, the price they will sell it for (in Euros), where it will be sold and how they are going to promote it. They then need to produce an advertisement – it can be in any format: poster, print or TV ad or a social media campaign. Teams will need to ensure their design is relevant to Disneyland® Paris and respects the Disney brand.

At the end of the workshop, the teams will give a 3-minute presentation of their pitch and advertisement to the facilitators, teachers and the rest of the audience, showing full use of the Four Ps. They will need to be prepared to answer questions and receive feedback.
